Why No Child Should Go to Bed Hungry: The State of Child Hunger in Nigeria
In a nation as richly blessed as Nigeria, it is heartbreaking that millions of children still go to bed hungry every night. According to UNICEF, over 17 million Nigerian children under the age of five are malnourished. Hunger isn’t just the absence of food; it’s the erosion of potential, hope, and life. Children who are consistently hungry struggle with growth, learning, and development.
Project Nourish, an initiative under the Ruffyedwards Charity Foundation, is addressing this crisis one meal at a time. By providing at least one nutritious meal daily to vulnerable children in communities like Ibadan and Ekiti, we are not just filling stomachs — we are saving futures. Our food banks and community kitchens serve as lifelines, ensuring that no child is left behind. Ending child hunger is not just a charity goal — it’s a moral obligation. Together, we can ensure that every child has the nourishment needed to thrive.
